Benoit Massé

Based in Montreal, Benoit Massé crafts an art practice through the mediums of cinema, poetry and music. In his projects, surrendered by talented collaborators, Benoit devots himself to producing the best material possible to accomplish his vision. In his lyrical work, he collaborates with Olivier Fauverts (Mes Ombres EP, 2022, Pour Ne Pas Mourir En Hiver LP, 2024) and he's at the dawn of new collaborations. He also direct videoclips for the songs of Faubert. In cinema, his sensibility and his mise en scene skills allow him to craft humane, strong and memorable documentary films. Still in universty, his first short-film Through & True his selected at Regard in 2022. His second, his final school film, Yvon The Eternal goes on a rich and lenghty festival run starting in national competition at the RIDM in 2022, then in 2023, at Vues Sur Mer, RVQC and FCVQ. Then at Cinema Sous Les Étoiles, he wins "Best Hope" in documentary filmmaking by which he receives a grant for a creative residency and in 2024 he wins the public's choice at Vues Dans La Tête. Meeting with differents publics through his films presence in festivals reenforce his desire to make sensitive propositions that touch our humanity and shine a light on resilience and togetherness. His next documentary short film The Heir And The Hare will debut in festival before the end of 2024 while he works on his first full length documentary.
