Maximilien Rolland
Maximilien Rolland was recognized for the first time at the age of 18 by winning the INIS Émergence price at La Course des Régions in 2013. After studying cinema at University of Quebec in Montreal and advanced courses at INIS, he came back in the competition in 2017 with his short film Le Complexe Appara. In 2020, he presents Audionomie, an ambitious huis clos film which was selected in more than 20 festivals around the world. Since then, he pays particular attention to musical and sound design in all his films. It is through these projects that Maximilien diversifies his horizons through new mediums. Since then, he has worked as a photographer, editor and is currently working on his electronic music project.
Magical realism and science fiction are two themes that fascinate him, but social causes inevitably invite themselves into his creations in one way or another. It is in this context that he presents in 2023 his next short film, Plastic, with a surrealist touch.
